Immunization through vaccination is a commonly used <\/p>

in the face of aggressive endemic disease challenges, such as <\/p>

bodies, allowing their immune system to mature to a level capable <\/p>

of eliciting an efficient active immune response if exposed to a <\/p>

potentially harmful virus or bacteria. <\/p>

Antibodies are not always completely protective but for <\/p>

viruses such as infectious bursal disease (IBD), many areas of the <\/p>

world have found maternal antibodies a very useful tool in IBD <\/p>

prevention and control.<\/p>

The success of vaccination does not rest solely with the manufacturing or research of <\/p>

vaccines. More important is the maintenance of the cold chain, protection of <\/p>

the vaccine from the elements, and the correct application of the vaccine to the <\/p>

bird.<\/p>

vaccination programs should be documented <\/p>

for each operation by the responsible veterinarian and <\/p>

operations manager. All vaccines must be stored at the <\/p>

correct temperature. Most vaccines require <\/p>

refrigeration at 2\u00b0C to 8\u00b0C<\/p>

Some vaccines, mostly killed oil <\/p>

vaccines, can be safely stored at <\/p>

room temperature. Some vaccines <\/p>

need to be stored at temperatures <\/p>

below 0\u00b0C..<\/p>

Vaccines are adversely affected by <\/p>

exposure to sunlight and heat. Vaccines must be administered <\/p>

using suitably cleaned equipment and be given to every bird in <\/p>

the defined epidemiological unit<\/p>

Live vaccines are widely used throughout <\/p>

the world because they are commonly effective when mass <\/p>

applied, and they are relatively economical.<\/p>
